WITH 7 DAYS LEFT, SENATORS McCAIN AND OBAMA FOCUS ON SWING STATES

Obama leading polls by 7 points on average.

Barack Obama and John McCain campaigned in western swing states amidst attacks and accusations by both campaigns. The battleground this weekend was in New Mexico, Nevada and Colorado. Once again Senator McCain accused his opponent of attempting to redistribute the wealth and thus socialism, warning the electorate that "Senator Obama is going to take your money and giving (sic) it to someone else." Accusations were denied immediately by the Democratic Party and described as "fake news controversy drummed up by the all too common alliance of Fox News, the Drudge Report and John McCain, who apparently decided to close out his campaign with the same false, desperate attacks that have failed for months." Obama campaigned on in Ohio: "We are one week away from changing America. (…) We cannot let up for one day, one minute, or one second in this last week. Not now."
Both campaigns are moving on to the East Coast, to Pennsylvania, a state that supports senator Obama 53 to 40, according to the last polls and which could become a key victory for the next president. Meanwhile, Governor Sara Palin is trying to race her ticket in Virginia and North Carolina, other important battle states, still talking about her 150 thousand dollar clothes and accusing Obama of “socialism.” That angle began when Joe Biden was asked by a reporter if he supported Marxist philosophy and to which he replied laughing, “Is it a joke?”
The candidates need 270 electoral votes to win. Recent CNN polls have shown Senator Obama leading by 277, of which 85 are unsure and 192 are safe, while Senator McCain looking at 174, of which 52 are unsure and 122 are safe. Even if Senator McCain wins all six tossup states along with his unsure states, he will only get a total of 261 electoral votes, not sufficient for his White House win. His only hope would be winning Pennsylvania. That could give him 21 electoral votes for a total of 282, a clear win. Can McCain stop Obama from becoming the next President of The United States?
On week from the final test speculations abound. With both parties gearing for the final push for The White House there still exist the undecided, and even uninformed voters. After all that has been said and written it appears that the “undecided” voter has not taken the time to learn about the candidates and their proposals. With seven days left it is time to do the research.
